C.lab is a unit within Thomas Concrete Group that performs testing of concrete, aggregate and binders. We also do research and development and offer help with consultancy commissions with special focus on concrete structures. Our laboratory and office facilities are situated on Ringön in Gothenburg.
Our laboratory is well equipped for experimental work on concrete, aggregate, binders (cement, fly ash etc.) and admixtures. We are accredited for several methods for testing of concrete, aggregate and binders. The tests are performed in accordance with European standards (SS-EN), Swedish standards (SS) and method descriptions according to FAS. The laboratory has been accredited since 1994. We also perform non-accredited testing, e.g. measurements of shrinkage, specific surface, binding times for cement, moisture conditions, chloride content (RCT method), chloride migration (RCM method) and evaluation of admixtures. The equipment used for accredited testing undergoes regular control and calibration, in order to secure the validity of all testing results.
Our research and development is focused on concrete, both in fresh and hardened state, and its constituent materials, e.g. aggregates and binders. The projects are done both with external customers and internal customers within the Thomas Concrete Group. We also have a close co-operation with Chalmers University of Technology where we collaborate in research projects. At present Thomas Concrete Group and Chalmers University of Technology runs a joint PhD project.
C.lab offers help with consultancy and testing of both fresh and hardened concrete. We also do damage investigations and assessment of existing structures and offers education within the concrete area. Our staff is qualified with many years experience from the construction industry. We offer help with testing of both fresh and hardened concrete both on site and in the laboratory. We also have laboratory mixers which make it possible for us to produce both mortars and concretes with high accuracy. The mixers are also used to produce mortar and concrete for our testing activities and research and development projects.
